
The exchange rate of Bangladesh currency depreciated significantly against the US dollar one day apart, as the central bank on Monday (May 16) set the value at Tk 87.50 against per dollar in the interbank currency market. The value of Taka was 86.70 against per dollar the previously. During the period, Taka depreciated by 80 paisa against the dollar.
The value of US dollar hiked by Tk 1.5 in a week. The value of dollar rose by Tk 1.30 three times in a month, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB).
Meanwhile, banks are trading shares by Tk 5 to Tk 6 against per dollar higher than that of the central bank’s dollar rate. And in the open market, a dollar is being traded at Tk 96 to Tk 98 which was Tk 90 to Tk 91 a few days ago. Thus the value of dollar is rising.
